Day 17 - Day Off!!!!

Woo-hoo!!! Today was our first day off of the trip! After six straight days of riding, the break was highly anticipated and very much needed!

However, the morning did not start off too well. We had to wake up at 8 because we are staying in a Boys and Girls Club and the kids needed to use the gym that we were sleeping in. The team was pretty irritated that we didn't get to sleep in the way we wanted and most people were in a sour mood. However, it eventually improved as people realized they just had to suck it up and get the day rolling. A group of us headed out to a nearby mall to hang out. Most of the shops were closed so we just talked and sat on the benches. We played on a merry-go-round in the mall that we were definitely way too big for...

Fun!

We were joking about how we were homeless because we had to leave the host at 10 and couldn't go back until 4. We laid on the floor of the mall and talked. I asked Sarah, "Do you think we're allowed to just lay on the floor?" to which she replied, "Yeah, children do it!" That seemed logical enough until the mall security guard told us otherwise. Other riders went to sleep on the display beds in Sears which no mall workers seemed to care about. Again, Bike and Build is a different world!

After loitering in the mall and making all the security guards nervous, we went to Subway where a rider had DMed us all free 6 inch subs. Way to go, Kevin! Sarah, who recently discovered she may be allergic to gluten was disappointed that all she could order was a salad. She meekly asked the Subway worker, "Can you put meatballs on it?" He replied, "That's a good question" but then complied to her order. She asked what dressing she should get in it and the unanimous answer was "ranch!"

Yum meatball salad!

After lunch, we headed back to the mall for a movie. Nyx was grossed out because the Subway stench on everyone's clothes apparently smelled like vomit. She made an awesome grossed-out face.

Ughhhhhh, Subway!!!

At the theater, we met up with the rest of our group and marveled at Travis' new haircut.

We all asked him the same question, "Will that fit under your helmet?" I guess we will have to wait and see tomorrow.

We saw Star Trek which was pretty bad. I looked over at my friend Kat a couple times and noticed that she was curled up underneath her rain jacket with her sunglasses on sleeping. She woke up at the end just in time to make fun of the movie with me. "Didn't see that one coming!" she said sarcastically about the ending scene.

Today was also mail drop day and everyone was excited to get letters and packages. Marcus and I got cards ad cookies from our friend Amber!! We ate cookies all night and they are delicious!!! Thanks so much, Amber!!!

Notice Marcus' awesome facial hair. It goes well with the English accent he's been using almost everyday

Well it's about that time to blow up the thermarest...

...and climb into bed!

Goodnight all! 77 mile day tomorrow into Hamilton, AL!
