Reality Sets In... Sort of

When you're first notified that you have been picked to embark on a 4,265 mile journey with 30-40 strangers, your first response is ecstatic excitement and enthusiasm. WOOOO BIKE AND BUILD! YEAH!!!!

Now that the initial feelings have calmed, I feel a little overwhelmed by the task set before me. A little.... Hmmmm 4,265 miles. My poor butt. Hmmmm $4,500 that I need to fundraise. My poor (literally) friends and family. How the heck am I going to accomplish this feat?

I really appreciate that you're reading this blog right now. Because, without you, there is really no way that I would be able to have this opportunity. So thank you so much for your donations and support throughout this journey, from start to finish. Any small donation, any little message or prayer means so much to me.

Please look to the left side panel for the links on where and how to donate. Don't hesitate to contact me with questions!

Thank you, so much, for all of your support!

Elaina? Blogging? Wha...?

If you know me, you probably figured that I would never start one of these. If you don't know me, here's a disclaimer: I am not a blogger. I am not a "journaler." All my childhood diaries had good intentions but eventually just ended up gathering dust under my bed, filled with empty pages. I am not a comedian; I can't guarantee that there will be anything remotely witty or funny in these blogs (however, I will try!!!) I'm not even a very good speler! (Ha!.... Get it?.....)

BUT! I am a member of Purdue Habitat for Humanity. I am a cyclist. I am one of the newest members of Bike and Build 2013.

BIKE AND BUILD!!!!!!

Thus, the reason for starting this blog is not because I want to post intimate details of my life online (although I'm sure over the course of the summer, you might learn some things about me that you didn't know before. Heck, I'll learn some things I didn't know about me.) I am starting this blog in order to share my journey across the United States with my friends and family and anyone else who is interested in why I'm biking across the country and who my pedaling is benefiting.

I'd love it if you joined me on this journey (virtually)! Please check out this blog every once in a while, and I'll explain more about my cause and my upcoming summer in future posts.
